Tactical Situation Report
(Weekly Portfolio Intelligence)
Super Summary:
- The US and Iran still battling as anywhere from 50-67% of pre-war oil is flowing. Other products suffer, like fertilizer and helium (for computer chips)
- Strong earnings continue to power new market highs
- Economic news was neutral to somewhat worrying, but not enough to scare markets
- We still have higher oil prices, higher interest rates and uncertain tariff risk hanging around
- Our average portfolio is up 23.9% so far this year, with Alpha Convergence up 32.96% against the S&P 500 at 13.39% and the equal weight version at 14.89%
Our results since June 23rd.

On The Move
A mostly quiet week as markets were moved more by strong earnings reports than broader concerns. We have also entered the August Zone - a time when many top traders take a vacation while more junior staff mind the store more than work the trades. Typically, trading volumes also decline until September, and we expect less volatility unless something breaks like the various risks we continue to track – oil prices, interest rates, tariffs and the AI build out.
For us, we remain very focused on tracking our portfolios.
What It Means for Us
Despite our worries, we continue to operate within our expectations for this period. While we are still far ahead of the market, we scan the horizon for threats that might throw us off course.
From the bridge.
